Prop 65 Warning

Proposition 65 refers to the California legislation regarding the prohibition of harmful toxic substances. The proposition was intended by its authors to protect California citizens and the State's drinking water sources from chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and to inform citizens about exposures to such chemicals. The statute states that "no person in the course of doing business shall knowingly and intentionally expose any individual to a chemical known to the state (California) to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity without first giving a clear and reasonable warning".

Some of the food products supplied by Napa Nuts can contain chemicals listed under Proposition 65. For example, the chemical known as acrylamide can be created naturally in certain types of foods during roasting. A further example is the addition of sulfur dioxide to dried fruits and vegetables for preservation under maximum allowable dose levels (MADLs) established by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), 10,000 mcg/day.

To be compliant with CA Prop 65 regulation, we are notifying you that some of our products may expose your consumers to chemicals including acrylamide, sulfur dioxide, furfuryl alcohol (present in caramelized sugar), ethylene oxide (used to sterilize chili seasoning), and possibly other compounds, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm.
